FPG Says: Panelists Weigh in on Guns
The United States has the highest number of guns per capita, with an estimated 120.5 guns per 100 people. So far this year, there have been at least 21 deadly mass shooting in America, averaging one mass shooting almost every two weeks. With back-to-back shootings that have recently taken place in El Paso, TX, and Dayton, OH, in addition to ongoing incidents of handgun homicides, the discussion of gun-related issues is one of the most talked about topics of 2019.
Conversations surrounding guns – from gun control legislation to how video games could generate violent behavior – have prompted calls for new federal legislation on guns, such as universal background checks and the outright ban of assault-style weapons. It seems that public attitude on the topic of gun control continues to shift. For example, in wake of the horrific shooting that took place in El Paso, Walmart announced that they would no longer sell handgun ammunition and ammunition for military-style weapons in its stores.
To get a snapshot of where our panelists stand on guns, we posted a few questions using the Polling feature of our consumer research app, FPG POV. Here are the results!
