FPG Says: Panelists Weigh in on Pets
According to the American Pet Products Association, almost 85 million households have a pet and over the last 30 years, pet ownership has gone from 56% to 68%. These increases could be a result of a cultural change as well, as Millennials and Generation Z consumers have welcomed a pet into their life as they enter adulthood more than their elders. Pets not only capture the hearts of their owners, they are also believed to reduce stress, anxiety, and aid in heart health. With all these positive benefits, no wonder the number of pet parents continues to increase.
In addition, with the increased use of online shopping and technology, pet owners are more aware of pet food options and their nutritional value. The demand for pet food availability has led to more choices and smaller brands that could disrupt the traditional pet store market. Pet food subscription boxes have also been on the rise due to their convenient doorstep delivery.
Being a first time pet owner or a veteran pet owner still comes with questions. No two pets are the same, and pet products are constantly changing. To get a snapshot of where our panelists stand on pets, we posted a few questions using the Polling feature on our consumer research app, FPG POV. Here are the results!
